Hey guys! Happy summer and I hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July weekend!
Obviously, COVID-19 has put a damper on everyone’s usual holiday plans, especially here in California where the COVID-19 cases have spiked and restrictions have made their way back into the public.
But that didn’t stop us from having our holiday fun and celebrating with good friends! We’ve been hosting at our somewhat new condo quite a bit lately and have been loving it!
We finally have more space for visitors to hang out comfortably. I’ve also been decorating and will finally be sharing some pictures of our place soon!
With that being said, I’ve been wanting to be a better hostess. My goal is to break old habits from our college years of serving nothing but water and beer when people come over lol!
Growing up, my parents hosted the best parties with the most delicious appetizers. So, I’ve been changing up my Pinterest searches and found some unique plates that will make all of my guests happy!
It also doesn’t hurt that its signature sauce has a fun name that I thought was perfect for 4th of July festivities!
I first made it for my best friend when we went to visit. I wanted to bring enough food to feed her, her fiancé, and her baby boy she’s expecting in a few months!
Unfortunately for her, however, I didn’t realize that “firecracker” meant that this recipe is a bit spicy for some people. Even though it calls for 1/2 a cup of Frank’s hot sauce (DUH), I didn’t think it would be an issue.
I personally thought the firecracker sauce had more of a sweet and tangy flavor versus hot and spicy. Either way, this is probably a good thing to keep in mind before serving it to people. 🙂
Another tip I’d suggest when making these is to leave them in the oven for an extra 5 minutes. The recommended 13 minutes hasn’t been enough, in my experience, and it gives the meatballs a nice crispy texture!
And there you have it! I hope you enjoy this recipe by Little Spice Jar and that it brings much needed joy into this year!
